What if, for just one night, time did not exist? We live in a world that never stops demanding we run faster. Our days slip away amid traffic, screens, and to-do lists, while the clock seems to dictate the value of every single minute. Yet, thankfully, there are shelters — small refuges in the middle of the noise that allow us to recover the present moment, which, when all is said and done, is the greatest luxury we have.
That is the premise of Atemporal, the intimate and profound concert brought to us by Oaxacan pianist Felipe Ríos.
A journey of discipline and family heritage
To understand Felipe's path is to understand that true talent does not emerge from nothing, but from hard work and family heritage. Originally from the Heroica Ciudad de Huajuapan de León, he first approached the piano at the age of four, guided by his father, Maestro Ramón de la Cruz Ríos Solano.
From there, his path has been one of pure dedication. He continued his studies at the Faculty of Music at the Universidad Veracruzana under Maestra Patricia Castillo, before completing his concert pianist degree under the guidance of Maestra Guadalupe Parrondo at the Vida y Movimiento school of the Centro Cultural Ollin Yoliztli. His graduation recital became an unforgettable introduction, honored with an official commendation from the jury at the Claustro de Sor Juana.
In 2014, he received the "Joaquín Gutiérrez Heras" Prize and, that same October, made his solo debut with the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de Hidalgo. His talent has taken him to major stages across the country — from the Sala Manuel M. Ponce at the Palacio de Bellas Artes to the Museo de Antropología in Xalapa and the Claustro del Centro Cultural San Pablo. He has shared his art with internationally renowned musicians such as Maestro Adrián Justus and Maestra Erika Dobosiewicz, and most recently, in 2024, gifted us a series of two-piano concerts alongside Guadalupe Parrondo.

A concert made with the heart
This coming Friday, June 5th, 2026, the Macedonio Alcalá Theater will open its doors for an experience designed to disobey the clock. The program is a journey through beloved pieces, woven together with the technical demands of the great composers and fused with an atmosphere of lights and colors.
But what truly moves us about this evening is the self-produced spirit of the project. Felipe Ríos is doing everything on his own — from overall planning to the lighting design and the visuals we'll see on stage. At Que Onda Oaxaca, we know what it means to build things from the ground up, and it fills our hearts to see independent artists forging their own path. We believe local talent deserves to be celebrated and supported. You can follow his project and learn more at @felipe_pianista.
